The Adult Education Coordinating Center was established to provide "a special access point for adults interested in a range of educational opportunities from taking a single course to completing a degree" (IUPUI Development Plan: 1988-2000). The programs were designed to enhance access to higher education for nontraditional-aged students, whether beginning or returning to higher education, by assisting them in exploring options and developing plans of study.
